This epic photo is the result of a loveshoot in the dunes with our precious van!
A while ago photographer Sjoerd Booij was looking for a couple to shoot for his one-on-one workshop. When I mentioned we own an old firevan, he insisted it would be our ‘prop’ for the day. 4 years ago we fell head over heels in love with this rusty beast from 1975. There was no escaping, no practical comments could convince us. We needed him in our live and ‘Tatu’ (his name, after the sound of a sirene) has been our trusted/failing car ever since. So it was about time he would feature in a few epic photos!
We played hooky for the day, ‘roadtripped’ our way to the dunes and had a wonderful (and super windy!) day with not one, but two amazing photographers: Sjoerd and Eva. And most of all, we had so much fun together. It’s always a bit awkward to ‘act normal’ in front of a camera. Let alone 2 camera’s! But we love these very real photos, we look like we normal do. A bit corny, but ‘normal’ :)

Right now this beautiful building on wheels is our only car. Yes, that’s super inconvenient and yes, we are looking for a second, smaller car. And for anyone thinking “you were into green living, right?” I have one thing to say: we are both vegetarian and that’s the probably the best thing you can do for the Earth. Plus, we hardly use our car :)
Tatu has gone through a big transformation already, but all under the hood. Now that the base of the interior is finished, he will be transformed into a campervan so we can have some real adventures! Like our big dream: roadtripping to the North Cape ♥
But for now, these little trips to Bloemendaal will do. After all, it’s not the destination, it’s the journey!
